IPad sketches

Both of these videos intrigued me as to how the art apps are used as a medium. They are good footage to see how the painting in gradually developed. What caught my attention is the fact that Mik Godley prefers to use his finger tips than a stylus. Does this mean that we, as artists are being too critical of the ipad as a medium. Instead of comparing painting with your fingers on the ipad to the products that we produce through pen and paper shouldn't we be focusing on it as a new exciting medium. A medium that can develop the realms of art in it's own way.

Also by watching the interaction in the 'Batman' video it has got me thinking about the placement of the navigation for the user interface design of my app.

Digital finger painting

Brushes is an iphone app that allows you to paint using up to 4 layers, an advanced colour picker and several realistic brushes. So what does this mean for art. is it progressing so far in to digitisation that an iphone/laptop is going to be the new piece of paper?

Many artists have started using it to as a digital sketch book and printing it onto canvases as the image resolution is so high. The screen is only 7cm but it allows u to zoom in by 1600%. Another new tool is auto desk sketch mobile. Because the app is so accessible to any one it makes me wonder if anyone can claim to be an 'artist' or if the app still needs a certain skill level to be able to produce good quality art work.
